Tryouts
Age Brackets
Competitive teams will be formed in age brackets at the beginning of each season in September.
Divisions are automatically assigned at time of registration based on a player's gender and birthdate according to guidelines established by Ontario Basketball.
Separate minor and major teams (e.g. U11 vs U12) in each age bracket may be formed based on registration numbers, coach and gym availability.
It is possible for talented players to play on a team in an older division. Older players are not permitted to play in younger divisions.
Tryouts are held in September.
Players must attend all tryouts in their age division.
Tryouts are designed to assess a player's skills and suitability to be offered a position on a competitive team.
Player's must register and pay a non-refundable fee to attend tryouts.
After tryouts, selected players will be sent a link to register onto a competitive team. These players will have 24 hours to register and confirm their place on a team.
If they are unsure whether they will play on a competitive team interested players should also register separately to hold a space in House League.
Paid house League fees will be transferred if a player makes a competitive team.

Competitive Season
Competitive teams participate in games as part of the Ontario Basketball League - East (OBL-East).
A typical season includes try-outs in September with games running from the middle of October to the middle of May (length of season depends on the age bracket).
Once formed, teams typically start the year with a pre-season tournament, will play 10-12 regular season games and will participate in an OBL-East year-end tournament. Coaches may elect to add additional games throughout the season.
Typically, competitive teams travel to out-of-town tournaments. Travel, meal and accommodation charges are the responsibility of players/parents.
Competitive Game Schedule
For planning purposes OBL-East games for each age bracket are scheduled on pre-assigned weekends that are announced at the beginning of the season.
Specific game times, locations and opponents will be posted as the season progresses.
Additional Costs
- A non-refundable $50 try-out fee applies to all players interested in playing on a competitive team.
- Players are provided 24 hours to accept an offer to play on a competitive team.
- Registration fees are due after a player confirms their intent to join a competitive team. Installment payments can be arranged to assist with family budgeting.
- Non-refundable Try-Out Fee: $50
- Registration Fee: $440.
- An additional team fee of $200 - $300 will apply to all competitive players in order to cover the cost of participating in OBL-East games and to cover tournament fees. This team fee will be collected by the team treasurer and is payable to the team account.
- All players are provided with a reversible numbered pinney as part of their registration fee.
- Players may be required to purchase home and away jerseys and matching shorts.
